A Little Otter Music: Embrace The Earbud

Otter A couple of things I knocked off on the MacBook for my mom. (I love GarageBand.) Self-indulgent inclusion in the blog constitutes permission to pop it in your iPod if you like, but not to use it for profit or without attribution, you thieving hound. (Or to quote the old cartoon, "This here's just a song the Lord gave me, and even though he gave it to me, I have the copyright, which allows me to sue your ass off if you use it without express written permission.")
There. That should settle the hordes of film producers anxious to steal these jewels of American music.
Thieving Hound, For Illustration Purposes Only. Not Included With Music.
One's an old American hymn called "Pleading Savior" that's had several lyrical settings: I've always loved the melody. Here I set it up with a mandolin harmony and in the middle verse a guitar counter-melody. Those aren't mistakes in the tempo: they're freedom of expression. Ahem.
The second is a built around the flagrant theft of a cool riff that I remember from when I was a kid, but I'll be damned if I can remember from whom I stole it like a thieving hound. Maybe a Phil Keaggy tune? Anyway, it only accounts for exactly one seventh of the song: the opening riff and the connecting tissue are all mine. Best experienced in stereo. After dropping acid.
Pleading Savior,

I currently have no acid available. Both tunes still please me. Will certainly be listening to them in the sewing room.
