Ann Curry's Wheaton Gaff

Ann Curry: Relax, Ann. It could happen to anybody.Speaking as a graduate of The Other Wheaton, I wanted to say to Ann Curry, Relax, Ann. It’s cool.
It could happen to anybody.
After being accepted by one Wheaton, I accidentally showed up for Freshman orientation at the other.
No, not really. But still.
Seriously. Unless you go there, there’s no reason in the world why you would think there wasn’t one and only one Wheaton. Even if you’d dissed my Wheaton by getting it wrong, I’d still say my sympathies are with Ann Curry.
It’s not like March Madness ever sports a Wheaton College at the 12th seed. One of them is “For Christ and His Kingdom,” and the other one perhaps is not, or just doesn’t need to say so.
“Wheaton College” is just not part of the national vocabulary.
Go home and eat some ice cream, Ann, and forget all about it. I have no idea whether the nation loved you before this (I don’t usually watch television except for sports), but if they did they will love you still.

As another graduate of The Other Wheaton, my response to hearing about Ann's gaff was to laugh! (But did WC really have to re-name the team to Thunder?! <giggle, snort, roll eyes>)
