Celebrity Sighting: Theresa Andersson

There's a café I like hanging out at, and Sunday I had some students coming to meet me out there to talk about papers and things.  I'd been at the hospital all night and probably looked like hell.  A brutal wind was blowing out of the north west (I took the ferry across the river from the hospital) and the rain was like needles on my skin.

It's a great café.  It's all wooden panels and floors, breakfasts of eggs and biscuits and sausage and gravy, but still with a really laid back feel.

A girl was playing acoustic guitar and singing: decent accompaniment, but her vocal stylings were amazing.  She did a beautifully dark hip cover of "Dites Moi" from South Pacific.  I was rather enchanted.

Theresa Andersson: Breakfasts With the Otter

At one point Theresa Andersson and her husband wandered in for breakfast.  My daughter and I love her music, and I thought about scoring an autograph for my girl, but who likes to be interrupted when the acoustic jazz is flowing out and the eggs and hasbrowns have just hit the table.

Soulful Swede, this woman is.

But go buy some Theresa Andersson music so she can continue to have good cheap jazz breakfasts and coffee.  Best bet on iTunes: "On God's Highway."

As a matter of fact I met her once in line at the grocery store and said a lot of stupid things about how cool her music is.  She was very nice.  If I'm going to keep running into her I should carry something to wipe the drool off my chin: I seem to not so very speak intelligently around her.  She is the junior high experience.
