British Petroleum, Meet Louisiana Coastline

I've been asked lately in the mailbag (and Twitter) why I haven't responded to the BP hostile takeover of the Gulf of Mexico.
Really, it's because I can't write about BP without profanity.
Too much grief. I've lived all around, and traveled a lot, but South Louisiana is my home. And it's not going to be the same again in my lifetime.
This is BP's doing.
They rushed the capping of a well to save a few dollars.
It went bad.
They're against the wall now, and they want their life back.
No sympathy, bitches.
None.
The only thing that taps in the back of my head doesn't mitigate BP's involvement: it's that we have been willing to risk all this for cheap gas.
BP is the dark side of our own convenience writ large.
No sympathies, bitches.
Just grief.

Really, it's getting almost comical. Or would be if there was a good chance the Gulf Coast would recover from this thing ecologically.
A saw is stuck, and the oil is about to hit the Florida Panhandle (so long, Destin: thanks for all the memories). And this oil is "just a drop in the ocean," according to BP C.E.O. Tony Hayward.
