TOP TEN REASONS TO BURN A BIBLE
1.) The Bible does not have an eternal origin and is not recorded in heaven. If it had been, it wouldn't have gone through so many variations. Its textual condition is slipshod compared to the Koran, and its current form departs strikingly from the ancient form.
2.) The Bible enshrines ancient paganism, specifically the Canaanite pantheon, two of the gods of which are conflated in its pages to produce an alleged "One God" that is manifestly an externalization of the writers' cultural ethics.
3.) The Bible justifies and sanctifies genocide, murder, rape, and violent misogyny.
4.) The Bible continues to justify and sanctify genocide, murder, rape, and violent misogyny.
5.) The Bible's central message is polyvocal, that is, at odds with itself.
6.) The Bible's message that the world will one day have one religion and one ethnicity is repugnant to all right thinking people.
7.) The Bible contains significant historical error and internal contradiction on matters of strong importance for its messages.
8.) The Bible's central message of martyrdom as a path to global change is absolute and admits of no development of personal gifts and resources as a means to the creation of wealth. Furthermore its economics are contrary to the ideals of liberty and personal property.
9.) The Bible disparages groups of people, nations, tribes, genders, and sexual orientation. The Bible reflects considerable ethnocentric / doxocentric ideals that exclude tremendous numbers of persons based on factors they cannot control.
10.) Deep in the Bible is a loathing for all persons who do not conform to ideals imagined by its writers; these people are consigned in its pages to judgment for differences of opinion about matters that are basic to human conscience.

OMG, can't they just post a big sign that says "I'm a hateful, ignorant, willfully stupid person; you be one, too"? The worst part was when the original article tried to justify the upcoming event as "not hateful" but "loving". Yeah, love like that the world doesn't need.
And I loved your rebuttal list. Nothing shows up stupid like turning the idiot's arguments back on him.
glad to see you weigh in on this.
Luther (my 12 yo son) and I discussed burning the Koran. We talked about how much of Sharia (how is that spelled?) law and OT law have in common and how a lot of that sort of thinking has gone the way of the dinosaurs (esp the Torosaur...lol). At first he was not sure why I would care if people burned the Koran, but eventually he got it. I wasn't as specific as you were (he *IS* only 12), but we had a good discussion and I am glad to hear you chime in. Thanks!
Nice.
